Varicose Veins

When your veins grow swollen, dilated, and overfilled with blood, it’s called varicose veins. Varicose veins are swollen, elevated veins that are bluish-purple or red in appearance. They are often painful.

Varicose veins can be removed or reduced using a variety of treatment methods.

Causes of varicose veins:

Varicose veins occur when veins aren’t functioning proper.

Symptoms

Varicose veins may or may not be painful. Varicose veins can be identified by the following symptoms:

Veins with a rich purple or blue hue.

Veins that seem twisted and bulging, frequently like cables on the legs

Examples of painful signs/symptoms include:

Legs that are achy or heavy to the touch

Burning in the leg, pain, muscle cramps and oedema

Pain that gets worse after a lengthy period of sitting or standing

Itching inside or around one or several veins.

Varicose veins cause the skin to discolor.

Treatment:

If you fail to respond to self-care or compression stockings, or if your condition is more serious, your doctor may suggest one of these varicose vein treatments like:

The most common treatment for varicose veins is vein removal. This strategy, however, is exhausting and takes a long time to recover from.

The alternative treatment is vascular sclerotherapy, which involves injecting foam into the vein to treat varicose veins.

Varicose veins, on the other hand, are more likely to return using this approach.

In the laser therapy approach, a catheter is placed into the vein, and a laser beam is transmitted through it, burning the vein.

The radiofrequency approach involves sending radio waves into a vein with the use of a catheter, which causes heat to be created and the vein to be burnt.

Only local anesthetic is utilized for these surgeries, and patients can leave the hospital afterward.
